Cavity Wall Insulation: Insulation Process
If you’ve arranged to have Cavity Wall Insulation installed in your home then the following process will be carried out by our Insulation Installers when they arrive at your home:
Explaining the process
Our Insulation Installers will fully explain how they will conduct your Cavity Wall Insulation install.
Re-Inspecting your Cavity Wall
It is important we re-inspect your home to confirm it is suitable for Cavity Wall Insulation. The Installers will re-check our Assessors measure to ensure nothing has changed since our initial Assessment of your property.
Drilling the Wall
Our installers follow a specific drill pattern to ensure the entire cavity is filled with insulation so each elevation (floors in your house) will need drilling.
Injecting the Cavity
Mineral wool or Bead material is blown into the cavity through the drilled holes and will settle in the cavity until it has filled. Air vents will be sealed off prior (to prevent them getting blocked by the insulant).
Filling in the Holes
Our installers will fill all the injected holes with Mortar (matching your mortar as closely as possible (The holes will be difficult to identify after weathering).
If the outside of your house is pebbled dashed we will apply pebbles to the surface to match your existing finish.
Cleaning up
It is inevitable the drilling will create dust and mess but our installers will ensure all areas are cleaned to your satisfaction before leaving your property.
Secondary Flue Testing
Lastly, the installers will re test any appliances on any wall that has been insulated to ensure that air is flowing correctly.
Your Final Inspection
Before leaving, we will walk around your property with you to show you the work we have undertaken. We will ask you to sign our paperwork to ensure you are happy with the work that has been carried out.
Technical Inspection
After a few weeks we may select your property for random inspection by one of our Inspectors. This is done at your convenience and is part of our commitment to the quality of our work.
The CIGA Guarantee
We apply for a CIGA guarantee on your behalf and this is posted to you directly.
This is your 25-year guarantee for your cavity wall insulation. More information regarding the guarantee can be found on the CIGA website.
