Surveying Your House for Loft Insulation
If you’ve arranged an appointment through one of our Grant Advisors for your property to be surveyed then the following process will be carried out by our Insulation Assessor when he arrives at your home:
Explaining the process
Our Insulation Assessor will fully explain how loft insulation works in terms of reducing heat loss in your property. This will include an explanation of how he will conduct your survey.
Inspecting your Loft
It is important we fully assess your property to confirm it is suitable for Loft Insulation. This involves gaining access to your loft area.
Once in the loft our Assessor will check the following elements:
- Ventilation (to ensure airflow is constant).
- Signs of existing condensation or mould growth.
- Tanks & pipes (we insulate these also, so we need measurements).
- Walkways (to and from your cold water tank).
- Downlights (we need to ensure heat is defused correctly).
- Existing depth of existing insulation and/or joists.
- Loft access (how easy is the loft to access).
- Items stored in loft.
- Several photographs will be taken to aid our installation team.
Measurements taken
The surveyor will take measurements of the entire property to ensure that at the time of installation the installers have the correct amount of material to successfully complete the job.
Obstructions or Access
The Assessor will identify any possible access issues that may hinder the installers at the time of. This will include items you currently store in your loft. Your Assessor will advise you fully on this.
Do you qualify for FREE Home Insulation?
You may qualify to get the work done for free if you are on certain benefits or over the age of 70. Your Assessor will advise you if you qualify for a FREE Home Insulation.
After the Survey is complete
Once the survey is completed our Assessor will confirm everything he has inspected with you and advise if your property is suitable for Loft Insulation.
